Livia Bischof Pian has been a researcher at SFCOLAB since September 2020 and is part of the Smart Technologies department. She holds a degree in agronomic engineering from the State University of Maringá – Brazil (2012), a master's degree (2015), and a Ph.D. in Agronomy - Soil Science from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro – Brazil. She also holds a specialization in biodynamic agriculture from the professional school Landbauschule Dottenfelderhof in Germany (2017).
She has actively participated in research projects, technical assistance, and rural extension work with organic family farmers in Brazil and was a researcher at the Dottenfelderhof Institute of Biodynamic Agriculture Research. As a researcher at SFCOLAB, she is involved in assessing the sustainability of agricultural operations (water and carbon footprints) and developing systems for monitoring production factors. This involves using a network of low-cost sensors - SOFIS, for sustainable and intelligent resource management (water, soil, nutrients, and fertilizers/phytopharmaceuticals).
